Passport Photo Background Requirements
U.S. passport photos should use a plain white or off-white background. The background should not contain shadows, texture, lines, objects, or scenery.
Don't digitally replace a bad background
If the background is wrong, retake the photograph against an appropriate physical background. The State Department warns against digitally changing or using AI to alter passport photos. ReadyPic therefore does not replace backgrounds.
ReadyPic's background check
The free checker can screen the outer area of a photo for brightness, but software cannot prove that every part of a background is uniform or shadow-free. Always perform a visual check too.
